Les Gorges du Verdon :
In the Alps of Haute Provence and Haut Var, runs the Verdon. Located on the banks of the waters pure and calm of the Lac de Sainte Croix, the village of Bauduen is one of the remarkable sites of the old village Verdon, typical Provençal floor is in an arc in front of the Lac de Sainte Croix. Its old stone houses and narrow alleys will charm your walk as well as the many possible excursions in the vicinity.
In 1975, we build on the Verdon River, the dam of Sainte Croix. The artificial lake is from this construction. The largest of the lakes in the verdon (10 km long and 3 km wide), blue turquoise, it extends to the bridge of Garret, at the hydroelectric dam, Bauduen to rooms on Verdon. Around the Lac de Sainte Croix, reception for tourists areas are numerous and perfectly equipped with all the water activities for young and old. As for the trails that surround the Lake, they will offer you excellent walks in the scents of Provence. The Lac de Sainte Croix is a quiet, serene, ideal place to spend quality time with your family and discover the region.
In the middle of the country of the Verdon and its wonders, Germany in Provence is a small municipality which has the chance to own a beautiful class Castle historical monument. This castle, in perfect condition, is inhabited year-round and open to visits from the public. So, you can discover the footprints of the great centuries that have marked the history of this castle. In the XIII ° the castle was a fort, it was expanded and restored during the XVI century in a magnificent Castle of Renaissance with great gardens where are grown multiple tulips.

Tiny is a semi village perched at the gates of the Gorges of the Verdon, near the Lake of the Holy Cross. By the richness of its history and its exceptional natural environment, tiny part of the treasures of the Verdon. The pre-historic remains of the balms caves closed to the public, are grouped in the Archaeological Museum of Quinson. The village is worth visiting for its vaulted passages, façades ramparts and its beautiful old houses which have the peculiarity of having nearly all cellars vaulted with an indoor well. Don't miss: the canyon of tiny, real street lined with cliffs turquoise water (100-150 m high) and of rock walls pierced many caves. Vertigo guaranteed!
The village of Esparron is perched at the entrance to the lower gorge of the Verdon. At the foot of the village reflected the turquoise waters of the Lake of Esparron, bordered of coves, cliffs and forests. This Lake offers all the possibilities of water sports for the delight of the large and small. Nearby nature is still unspoilt, with large plateaus, the fields of lavender, and of course the deep gorges of the Verdon to discover.
At the gates of the Gorges of the Verdon, Moustiers Sainte Marie is the Mecca of earthenware. It remains one of the main centers of French-made international fame. Moustiers is fortunate to have a perfectly landscaped Lake. Thanks to its port, nautical club and its recreation center, Moustiers is one of the most attractive centres of Emerald Valley. The site is built amphitheatrically in the middle of exceptional landscapes and two rocky peaks that overlook Moustiers. In all seasons, Moustiers offers wonderful walks as it is at the heart of the village (architectural heritage) or nearby (cascade of Rion, the cave of Ste. Madeleine).

Founded in the first century, it is the most ancient quoted Alps of high Provence, it is called the Romaine.Vous laugh can discover the rich history of this village across the remains from different eras, Gallo-Roman, medieval and renaissance. You'll find yourself in a medieval atmosphere as you stroll in the main street of the centre of laugh with its very narrow alleys... we can well imagine the atmosphere of the past where thronged the shopkeepers. Today these are the potters, potters and sculptors who have taken their places and continue the tradition of the arts and crafts for the pleasure of visitors.
Clinging to its rocky peak, drawn up in the middle of the rock gardens and lavender, the village of Rougon dominates the entrance to the grand canyon of the Verdon gorges. Located at the gap, it offers perfect tranquillity away from the fumes and noises from the bustle of the cities. Rougon has kept the authentic character of the small medieval village with narrow streets with houses built with materials of the country. From the ruins of his Castle, you have an exceptional view of the fabulous Nick of the Point Sublime of the Verdon. You can certainly see a few vultures on the approach of their natural nest dug by water and wind in the cliff.
Located in the Valley of Bresque, at the confluence of the Pelicourt and the serious, this small town is an artistic city. It is a village in the historical important side of hills, sheltered from the wind, in the mild Mediterranean climate, it is nice to stroll through the narrow streets in the picturesque houses admiring through the Church of the XIth characterized by its door and its 2 towers, the many fountains in the water so clear. Salernes is famous for its hexagonal tiles that cover most of the soils in the Provençal houses. These are tiles earthen terracotta, glazed or not, made of a mixture of the Red Earth and ferruginous to other kind of land.
Located at 20 minutes from the Lake of Sainte-Croix and 60 minutes from the seaside, the Cascade Sillans is a charming village. By its river, its opulent shade, its waterfalls and its broad prairies, Sillans has many attractions to seduce its visitors. The village has kept its medieval aspect, tightened on itself it looks like a little a large farm with the central square courtyard. A pleasant walk of 800 m in the middle of huge centuries-old plane trees of 800 m leads to this splendid fall of 42 m high. These are the waters of the Bresque magnified by those of the beautiful castle of Bresc and the Valley of the Ourc source who rush into a swirling Lake.
Valensole is located in the heart of a beautiful plate of lavender and almond and aptly named: Valensole comes from vallis and solis, "The Valley of the Sun". Valensole has retained the character and charm of the villages of Haute Provence, you will enjoy wandering the alleys of the old city. It is also a very appreciated for the quality and purity of the air. The landscapes of the surrounding area (the Valensole plateau) are beautiful, especially in spring when the almond trees are in bloom. In the summer you can enjoy the scent of lavender and thyme which scented the air because Valensole is one of the high places of production and distillation of lavender in Provence.
Perched medieval village, nicknamed the "village in the sky", its location on the top of a hill. It is located between the last foothills of the pre-Alps and the plain of the var in the middle of beautiful pine forests, with views of the Var means up to the Sainte-Victoire mountain. The lower gorge of the Verdon start actually just after the dam of Holy Cross, with the tiny canyon. This parade top 150 m is drilled many caves which served as shelters from the dawn of humanity.

The village at the foot of the mountain the "large margins", overlooks the Lake of Sainte-Croix, and dominates access to the Gorges of the Verdon. Aiguines is a village that is worth to be visited not only to enjoy the view on the Lake of Holy Cross in a drink, but you will also enjoy strolling in the village, to visit, to admire his Castle and if you have the courage (you away!) see the small chapel of St. John. From there, the ideal is to continue on the course of GR4 story to enjoy Provençal fragrances as well as once again the view.
Backed by the foothills of the Alps of Provence in the Haut Var, Villecroze is a charming multiple attracts many visitors.
Classified "village character": it has preserved its authenticity and its medieval character. It is best explored on foot. We are in a maze of narrow streets with archways, arcades, plots, campanile (the former Dungeon which adjoins the Castle).
